Bless This New Beginning

Some ladies and I threw a wedding shower for some friends that are getting married in May. It was an incredible day with a great turn out of people to show their love and support for this soon to be married couple. I was extremely blessed seeing all the love surrounding them.

The groom to be is the Minister of Worship Arts and Community at Springhill. When I get to be a part of blessing new couples I am always thankful because I remember all those who were so good to Todd and I when we were getting married.

Here's some pictures I took at the shower. Here's to a very happy God-centered marriage together Matt and Emily.

The cake was made by Erin who is just incredible. Every time I see one of her cakes I am amazed by her ability. If you live in the Springfield area you have to give her cakes a try.

A few of the men that braved the wedding shower.

The beautiful couple.

Easter Take 2

I was sent a few pictures from Easter that I wanted to share. The first is a family shot. By the time this was taken all the kids were pretty tired and just ready to go home and go to bed. By the looks of it Todd and I are ready for a nap too.
The next photos were taken by a friend, Jennifer, who is also an incredible photographer. The church had an Easter Egg Hunt during Sunday school and she had her camera handy to snap all the cute kids running around. I, on the other hand, forgot my camera and she was nice enough to share the pictures she took of my kids.

Easter Pics

Jadon has been excited about Easter for weeks. He is constantly talking about why Jesus had to die on the cross. Our first conversation about Easter this year with Jadon went like this.
Me: "Jadon why do we celebrate Easter?"
Jadon: "It's when Jesus died on the cross."
Me: "Why did Jesus die on the cross?"
Jadon: "Because our sins."
Me: "What are sins?"
Jadon: "Like when I lie."
Me: "Is Jesus still in the tomb?"
Jadon: "No, He's not dead anymore."
I love how his 4 year old mind is so trusting and matter of fact about how Jesus died on the cross for our sins, but we celebrate because He is alive! I am excited to think that our children are growing to the time that prayerfully one day they will see their need for Him. I pray for that day everyday.
Here is my try at getting a picture of all the kids in their Easter outfits. I was not going to get it, either Haven was crying or Jude was crying. After a time of wanting to cry myself I was graciously reminded by my husband that Easter is not about this petty stuff. I hate to admit that I had to be reminded that Easter is not just a holiday when we dress our kids in pretty outfits and parade them to church for everyone to see.

Havenisms

A little glimpse into the life and mind of Haven Wallace. I'm finding that as Haven gets older she gets funnier and a little more quirky. I am enjoying so much what comes from her little mind, well most of the time. He view of the things around her sometimes quite amaze me. I wish I could capture everything she says and most times the best part of what she says are her expressions. Here are some of my favorite Haven times.

"hey dad the baphroom wight needs a new battery." The light bulb in the bathroom went out.

"I'm okay daddy/mommy." She says this every time she falls, which is quite often.

Her list of names for her stuffed dogs; Max, Baby Max, Black Max, Pink Max, Big Max, etc. You can probably get the jest that every single stuffed dog of hers is Max.

She is now a puppy herself that can do tricks, such as roll over, sit, shake hands, play dead (at rigor mortis stage), speak and lay down. She is a much more obedient puppy than little girl.

From the time she is put in bed till she actually falls asleep she changes her clothes about 3 times. I usually find the clothes she went to bed in and another outfit on the floor and a new outfit on her. Todd caught her just the other night out of bed getting ready to change her clothes. Todd told her to get back to bed, her response, "but daddy I don't like this shirt." Todd picked her up put her back in bed and covered her up and said, "there that should be good now because you can't see them." She just smiled at him, didn't say anything and stayed in bed. Todd walked out shocked that it actually worked.

There are so many more Haven moments that leave us cracking up for days. I love her and am thankful for this little girl.

Hair Raising Fun

Due to some guy deciding to drink and then drive we spent 24 hours without electricity a couple of weekends ago. (I know I'm a little behind on updating this thing). Thankfully no one was hurt, just a few electrical poles were taken out and about 400 people left without electricity from 8:00pm Thursday to about 8:00pm on Friday.

To help me stay sane because of my house beign a huge mess, I had bunco with the ladies so Todd fixed dinner and I was going to come home and clean up the kitchen just so my wonderful husband wouldn't have to, but instead I came home to a dark house, the kids and I went over to Donna and Gary's to hang out.

The kids found having no electricity exciting. They got their backpacks and filled them full of stuff and we went out to lunch, took naps at Mema's and then we went outside and played the rest of the evening. We finally went home around 7:30pm to still no electricity, but I really wanted to get the kids ready for bed before it got dark and we were trying to do it half sighted. Todd made one last call to the utility company, he was getting extremely nervous about getting a paper typed that was due early Saturday morning.

I'm not exaggerating, as soon as he hung up the phone I started screaming because we had electricity. Hallelujah! It took Todd a few seconds, longer than he would like to admit, to notice the bright lights shining in our home.

I have to say I found it quite annoying to be without power, it messed up my routine. But I am thankful that even during the very short time I was without I never had to wonder if I would get my electricity back, I didn't have to worry about the kids being fed or having a warm place to stay or if they had warm clothes to wear. I am truly blessed for what the Lord has given me. Having no electricity was a nice reminder of how the Lord takes care of us.

Pictures of Jude and Haven after jumping on the trampoline.
That Saturday was a perfect day for kite flying. So, we surprised Jadon with the kite daddy had bought for him weeks before. I'm not sure who had more fun, Todd or Jadon.

Then we ended the week with haircuts for the family including Jude's first haircut. He did a pretty good job with getting a little squirmy at the end. He looks more like a little boy than a baby, one more step away from being my little baby.
